The Barge House Breakfast in Bread

What does “Breakfast in Bread” mean, you might ask? Does this picture clarify things? Yes, that is a stuffed bread bowl. It’s from a place in London called The Barge House, and it’s literally called “breakfast in bread.” I got the vegetarian version, which is a sourdough bread bowl filled with slow-roasted tomatoes, spinach, leeks, mushrooms, avocado, asparagus, an egg, and cheese. As hard as it was to eat, it was absolutely delicious and one of my favorite dishes of London thus far.

Chicken & Waffles at Sunday

Let’s start this blog post at Sunday, a cafΓ© in the quiet neighborhood of Barnsbury. While the neighborhood itself is not particularly known for its good eats, everyone knows about Sunday. Seriously, on a weekday afternoon, every seat was occupied. The menu is full of brunch classics, so I got the chicken and waffles, topped with a carrot and corn slaw. Before I delve into what I saw at the museum, I just wanted to say the architecture was absolutely incredible. The cover photo was taken inside Hintze Hall, which has multiple levels with case after case of artifacts: animals, gems, books, the whole shebang. I seriously think it looks like a church with a giant fossil hanging from the ceiling.

Image of 2017 Wimbledon Champions

When I was six years old, I played tennis for the first time. It was a total accident, a trip to the park turned into a basic lesson from a family friend, and now today it is my favorite sport both to play and watch. Thus, a trip to Wimbledon was on the agenda while in London. Even waiting for the tour of the grounds to begin, it was incredible to see the draw boards, still intact from the last tournament in July. I made sure to find Venus Williams’ name and track her matches all the way to the finals. Also, I saw a gorgeous poster of all the 2017 winners. Special props to Claire Liu (second row second from the right) for winning the junior girls singles. Always great to see an American come out on top!
